LIBRARY ARRANGEMENTS FOR CHRISTMAS / NEW YEAR PERIOD

The library will operate out-of-term opening hours from December 14th to January 4th inclusive.

These are: Monday Friday 9.00am 5.00pm

Within this period the institute will close on December 21st and will re-open on January 2nd.

Material borrowed from the General Collection on or after December 8th will not be due for return until 07/01/13. Items borrowed from the Short Loan Collection on or after December 13th will not be due for return until 07/01/13.

WELCOME! or WELCOME BACK!

Welcome back to everyone, and a special welcome to new students and staff who have come to IT Carlow for the first time. We would also like to extend a hearty 'Cead Mile Failte' to our overseas students. This is the first library newsletter of the new academic year and it will be updated regularly. LIBRARY OPENING HOURS

Currently, the Library is open from 8.45 a.m.- 5.00 p.m. Monday - Friday.
However, fulltime opening will commence from week beginning Monday, 17th September. Therefore, library opening hours after that date will be:

Monday - Friday 8.45 am - 10.00 pm

Saturday 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.

Please check the 'Latest News' page to see any short-term amendments to this timetable. These will usually occur during out-of-term periods, Bank Holidays and other Public Holidays.

QUIET STUDY ROOM UNAVAILABLE

Student registration for academic year 2012/13 will take place in the library. As a consequence, the quiet study room is now unavailable and will be unavailable until at least September 17th. For the duration of the Autumn Examinations, Rooms A204 & A207 on the middle floor have been designated as quiet study rooms. Apologies for any inconvenience.

For the MAY BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND, the library will remain open until 10.00 pm on Friday, 4th May and will be open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Saturday, 5th May. The Institute will be closed on BANK HOLIDAY Monday, 7th May.

SCIENCE DIRECT TOP 10 JOURNALS for 2011

In 2011, IT Carlow users downloaded 18,180 full-text articles from the ScienceDirect database. Once again, this Top 10 list is dominated by Humanities and Sports Medicine titles. The Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, takes over from Early Childhood Research Quarterly in the top slot. The Top 10 journal titles, in order of popularity at IT Carlow, were: [Journal of Experimental Child Psychology][Child Abuse & Neglect] [Bioresource Technology] [Manual Therapy][Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies] [Personality and Individual Differences] [Physical Therapy in Sport][Social Science and Medicine][Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport] [Early Childhood Research Quarterly].
