Diploma in Fine Art through the Wexford Campus (Gorey Centre) in the next academic year. In preparation for this, the library staff have commenced cataloguing the holdings of Gorey School of Art, where the course is due to be located. Users searching our library catalogue may, therefore, come across books with a location of 'Gorey General Lending' or 'Gorey Reference'. At present these items have a status of 'NOT AVAILABLE'. However, once the course is up and running, it should be possible to make material available on a reciprocal basis between the Gorey Centre and the IT Carlow campus. These items have also been specifically excluded from the listings of latest additions to our holdings. A belated Happy New Year to all staff and students. Because Easter is late this year, this will be a long term, only broken by the St. Patrick's Day weekend.
There must have been a lot of New Year resolutions made, because already the library is noticeably busier. A resoIution to also remember to switch off mobile phones would considerably help other users of the LRC.
MILLENNIUM Library System Update
Listings of new additions to stock are now posted on the library webpages. These will be updated each month. Go to:
http://www.library.itcarlow.ie/ftlist/
If anyone would like to be alerted by e-mail whenever a new posting of latest additions is made, please contact the Librarian.
The 'Resource Lists' page now also contains a hotlink to the college intranet page where past examination papers are available for downloading and viewing/printing. This is a new development which will be extended as time goes by. Thanks are due to Linda Ryan, Communications Officer for providing this facility. Go to:
http://www.library.itcarlow.ie/screens/lists.html
Users searching the library catalogue can now place a hold on any item that is out on loan. On the page containing the catalogue record for that item, just click on the 'Request' button and follow the on-screen instructions. This facility is still in test mode, so if any queries arise, please contact library staff.
LRC Resources - Induction Sessions
Any staff member or student who wishes to be given an introduction to the facilities of the library can contact the Librarian Tel. Ext. 567. Or e-mail

Emerald Fulltext Database - update
A reminder to academic staff that IT Carlow's licence for this database permits the creation of multiple copies of articles for inclusion in course packs. Therefore, any of the thousands of articles in the database can be freely duplicated for in-house distribution to students without infringing copyright.
It is also possible to create an 'electronic' reading list of articles from the database and to have a record for that list included in the library catalogue or on a staff member's webpage. To see a test example of this using the topic of 'Globalisation', click on:
Please contact the librarian if you wish to pursue this.
In addition, users who want to keep up-to-date on a particular topic can carry out a search in the Emerald database, save that search as a 'search alert' and be automatically e-mailed whenever any new articles on that topic are added to the database. Further information is available at:
Details of all 133 journals in this database are listed in the library catalogue. To bring up the list of Emerald titles from the library catalogue, click on 'Series' search button and enter Emerald in the search box.
