American Doctoral Dissertations - is a free database providing access to the only comprehensive record of dissertations accepted by American universities. The enhanced database includes more than 153,000 theses and dissertations in total, including 70,000 new citations for theses and dissertations from 1902 to the present, and may be searched by author, title, subject and university.

ASABE Technical Library - Search all recent technical documents published by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. This includes standards, journal articles, books and papers. Anyone can view the abstracts, but full text is only available to ASABE members.

BAILII - The British and Irish Legal Information Institute (BAILLII) provides access to freely available British and Irish public legal information. From the Irish perspective it provides access to Supreme Court and High Court cases as well as access to decisions of the Competition Authority and the Information Commissioner.

CARDI - Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland (CARDI) hosts a database of researchers and research centres, their interests and present research projects. It also provides online access to hundreds of research publications.

Cardiff Index to Legal Abbreviations - Legal abbreviations can be a puzzle to both new students and experienced professionals. This web-based service, courtesy of Cardiff University, allows you to search for the meaning of abbreviations for English language legal publications, from the British Isles, the Commonwealth and the United States, including those covering international and comparative law. A wide selection of major foreign language law publications is also included. Publications from over 295 jurisdictions are featured in the Index. The database mainly covers law reports and law periodicals, but some legislative publications and major textbooks are also included. The Index is still under development.

ChemistryCentral - Chemistry Central is a new service publishing peer-reviewed open access research in chemistry, from the same team that created BioMed Central. The Chemistry Central website currently features chemistry-related articles published in BioMed Central journals. Chemistry Central is planning to launch further chemistry-specific journals in the near future, including Chemistry Central Journal, a new title covering all areas of chemistry.

CiteSeer - CiteSeer is a scientific literature digital library and search engine that focuses primarily on the literature in computer and information science. CiteSeer aims to improve the dissemination and feedback of the scientific literature and indexes PostScript and PDF research articles that are posted on the Web.

Cochrane Library - The Cochrane Library is a collection of electronic databases enabling medical professionals, researchers and government agencies access to a single source of reliable evidence about the effects of healthcare. All residents within the island of Ireland can access The Cochrane Library for free, thanks to funding for national provision by The Health Research Board in Dublin and The Research and Development Office in Belfast.

Collection of Computer Science Bibliographies - This is a collection of bibliographies of scientific literature in computer science from various sources, covering most aspects of computer science. The bibliographies are updated weekly and the collection currently contains over 2 million references, mostly to journal articles, conference papers and technical reports. Many references contain URLs to an online version of the paper.

Computer Science Technical Reports - A searchable index to reports and theses that have been published on the Internet. Over 45,500 items are available.

Courts Service Judgements Database - This judgments database contains written judgments made available by the Supreme Court from the year 2001; the Court of Criminal Appeal from the year 2004; and the High Court from the year 2004.The database includes search page facility

DOAJ - The Directory of Open Access Journals has the aim of increasing the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals, thereby promoting their increased usage and impact. The DOAJ aims to be comprehensive and cover all open access scientific and scholarly journals that use a quality control system to guarantee the content. In short, the DOAJ is a one-stop shop for users of open access journals..

It offers a unique combination of resources for students, teachers, researchers, and aficionados of economic thought." It is a free fully-searchable web-based resource which includes online books and articles.New material is added on a regular basis.

EdITLib Digital Library for Information Technology and Education - a valuable online resource of peer-reviewed and published international journal articles and proceedings papers on the latest research, developments, and applications related to all aspects of Educational Technology and E-Learning.

Encyclopaedia Britannica - A free version of Enclyclopaedia Britannica online.

ENFO - ENFO is Ireland's public information service on environmental matters and sustainable development.This bibliographic database covers the period 1990 - Present.

ENTREZ cross-database search - ENTREZ is a life sciences search engine and this website performs cross-searching among multiple free databases including PubChem, PubMed and several resources covering the areas of genes and genetics.

EnviroCentre.ie - An Enterprise Ireland website which advises small businesses on how to fulfil their statutory obligations in relation to environmental matters. Included are downloadable legislation and standards, articles and case studies.The site is fully searchable.

ERIC - The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education, produces the worlds premier database of journal and non-journal education literature. It includes a bibliographic database of more than 1.1 million citations going back to 1966. In addition, more than 107,000 full-text non-journal documents (issued 1993-2004), previously available through fee-based services only, are available for free.

Espacenet - Espacenet is Europe's network of patent databases. It can be used to search patent applications with an English abstract and title from over 45 million patents worldwide.Over 150 million pages of patents are available in facsimile form.

EUR-Lex - EUR-Lex provides direct free access to European Union law. The system makes it possible to consult the Official Journal of the European Union and it includes inter alia the treaties, legislation, case-law and legislative proposals.

HubMed - Hubmed is a parallel but alternative search engine to Pubmed. It permits more powerful searching and allows the automatic extension of a search to other search engines and tools such as Google, Google Scholar, PubMed, Scirus, CrossRef, PMC, XplorMed and Graphing (SVG & PNG).

InTech - InTech provides open access to over 200 books and over 8,000 scholarly articles and chapters in the areas of Science, Technology and Medicine.

Intute - Intute is a free online service providing access to the very best Web resources for education and research. The service is created by a network of UK universities and partners whose subject specialists select and evaluate websites and write high quality descriptions of the resources. The Intute database, which contains over 113,000 records, makes it possible to discover the best and most relevant resources in one easily accessible place. NOT UPDATED FROM 2011 ONWARDS

Irish National Soils Database - A national baseline database of soil geochemistry including data point maps and spatial distribution maps of major nutrients, major elements, essential trace elements, trace elements of special interest and minor elements.

Irish Statute Book 1922-2005 - The fulltext of all legislation enacted in Ireland between 1922-2005 is made available here via the website of the Office of the Attorney General. It includes all Acts of the Oireachtas and all Statutory Instruments.

IRLII - The Irish Legal Information Initiative (IRLII) provides a database of 'leading Irish cases', classified by subject.IRLII is run by the Law Faculty, University College Cork.

ISSDA Irish Social Science Data Archive (ISSDA), holds an ever-increasing quantity of machine-readable data from surveys and official statistics (such as the Census) and makes them readily available to users in the academic, public and commercial sectors. Managed jointly by UCD and the ESRI , ISSDA also has the collaboration and support of the Central Statistics Office. Most datasets are freely available but some require registration or subscription.

Lenus Irish Health Repository - LENUS captures, distributes and preserves digital research products. NFDR - National Food Residue Database - The NFRD contains data on chemical residues and contaminants in foods in Ireland. The data is taken from annual residue monitoring programmes and from individual residues studies and surveys. The scope of the data includes: veterinary drugs, prohibited substances, pesticides, heavy metals, dioxins and PCBs, mycotoxins, nitrates and PAHs.

Pew Global Attitudes Project Key Indicators Database - This interactive database provides users with the ability to access key trends on questions ranging from attitudes toward the U.S. to people's assessments of their own lives and views about the current state of the world and important issues of the day. These key trends can be accessed by question, topic or by country.

PILOTS Database - The PILOTS database is an electronic index to the worldwide literature on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health consequences of exposure to traumatic events. It is produced by the National Center for PTSD, and is electronically available to the public. There is no charge for using the database, and no account or password is required.

PubMed - PubMed is a service provided by the U.S. National Library of Medicine and it allows access to over 15 million MEDLINE citations from the mid-1950's to present. Full-text links to subscription-based or freely available articles are incorporated into the database.

RePEc - Research Papers in Economics RePEc is a collaborative effort of hundreds of volunteers in 53 countries to enhance the dissemination of research in economics. The heart of the project is a decentralized database of working papers, articles and software components. All RePEc material is freely available. RePEc also provide links to many full text journal articles, but access to these may require a subscription or advance payment.

RIAN.ie - is a single point of access to the contents of the Institutional Repositories of the seven Irish university libraries and DIT. It will be the primary source for Irish Open Access research publications and makes this research material more freely accessible. As part of the stated intention to extend the portal to other Irish research outcomes, material from the Lenus Irish Health Repository is now included.
