520 This report examines the demography and vital statistics
of the Traveller population in Ireland. The demography
section concentrates on the determination of the total
count of Travellers and on their age/sex distribution. The
results are based on data collected in the census survey
of Travellers carried out on the normal census dates of
14th October 2008 in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) and
16th February 2009 in Northern Ireland (NI).The vital
statistics section examines mortality in the Traveller
population based on an enumeration of deaths in ROI and NI
that occurred in the 12-month period prior to ROI census
       survey.
